CO2 System

CO2 System and CO2 ROOM 

After taking over, general inspection of the Co2 system should be done.

Below are few checks of Co2 system and Co2 room.

1. Door of Co2 room should be closing properly.
2. Co2 room door packing and dogs should be intact.
3. Stenciling on door should be proper.
4. IMO symbols of Co2 room should be intact.
5. All lights in Co2 room should be working satisfactory (sometimes seen fused).
6. No of Bottles for each space  (Cargo Hold, Pumproom, Engine room) should be mentioned in Co2 room.
7. Procedure for operating Co2 should be pasted.
8. Co2 alarm should be tested regularly.
9. Blowers of Co2 Room should be running satisfactory.
10. Mushroom vent of Co2 room (Mesh and opening/closing should be checked).
11. Mechanical isolating valve should be checked and tested. 
12. Location of equipment for Blowing thru of Co2 line should be known and kept standby.
13. Blowing thru procedure of Co2 line should be known to ship staff.
14. Co2 lines blown should be blown through as per PMS.
15. Cylinders weighment checks carried out as per SMS.
16. Lagging if there in Co2 room should be intact.
17. Smoke detection unit operation should be checked.
18. Co2 room should be clean and tidy.
19. Old hoses of Co2 cylinder should be removed after changing.
20. Transportation pin of Co2 cylinder should be checked.
