If there is any discrepancy between things discussed in Ship Shore meeting and checklist (click here) such as Loading Rate, Manifold connection etc, a Letter of Protest should be issued.

Few type of Letter of Protest are

  1. Free Pratique
  2. Delays (No berth available, cargo stoppage, Pilot not available etc)
  3. Short Loading
  4. Ullaging in open sea gauging
  5. Low Loading Rate
  6. If Shore asked for Discharge cargo at reduced Pumping rate.  
  7. Ship -Shore Difference (Cargo)
  8. Settling Time
  9. Temperature of cargo
  10. Ullaging during Rolling \ Rough weather etc.
  11. Less Manifold Connection \ Hose
  12. Same Shore line \ connection used for Loading \ Discharging different cargo.
  13. Documents such as Letter of origin, Quality and Quantity are not received from loading master \ cargo surveyor.
  14. Commingling order from charterer ( Master should immediately informed to OWNERS for there approval)
  15. If Cargo Samples are not received from Loading master \ Cargo Surveyor.
  16. If Before berthing, if Berth is observed  to be damaged.(LOP along with Moment Book entry should be made). 
  17. If before Berthing, if Fenders on Berth is observed to be damaged. (LOP along with Moment Book entry should be made). 

Notes

  1. These are few type of Letter of Protest, Company SMS should be referred.
  2. Duty officer should be observe for any discrepancy. 
  3. Duty officer on cargo watch should should immediately inform Chief officer and Master.
  4. In Case of any discrepancy, Loading Master, Cargo Surveyor, Charterer and Company should be informed.
  5. All documentation (click here) should be done properly.
  6. Log Book (click here) entries should be made correctly.
